Seek out “The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to a Nation: Part 1 The Pox Party” by MT Anderson; I’m now about to start “Part 2 Kingdom on the Waves”.  This started as a grandmother review of YA suitability task for an almost 11 year old.  Am entralled by Anderson’s ability to challenge cherished American Revolution history views of race and capitalism with “yeah, okay, but you have to know this too.” Schools should add these with obligatory nod to “Johnny Tremain.”
