Kevin Olusola Beatboxes An NPR Theme

We featured Kevin Olusola, a 23 year old beat-boxing cellist, at On Point today. Kevin’s a talented artist – he’s racked up awards and accolades for his cello and sax playing, and his beat boxing – and a great improviser.

His cello bow broke during a performance of “Julie-O,” the cello-beatbox arrangement of a Mark Summer song that made him a Youtube hit, but he wasn’t fazed. He went on to riff with his voice and pizzicato – the string-plucking technique – and to throw down this beatboxed version of the All Things Considered theme song, in response to a challenge from our caller Caroline, from Nashville,Tennessee.
