Anthony Shadid: Libyan Rebels ‘Amateurish’

New York Times foreign correspondent Anthony Shadid, who was captured in Libya last month, says he feels few people appreciate how bad the situation is in Libya and how disorganized the rebels are. He spoke with On Point’s Tom Ashbrook Monday.

Shadid also questions whether there would have been a blood bath in Benghazi if the U.N. hadn’t imposed a no-fly zone.

After seven days of imprisonment, beatings and death threats, Shadid and his colleagues were released, but not before getting an inside look at the Gadhafi regime.

Tyler Hicks, one of the journalists captured with Shadid, spoke Friday with WBUR’s Here & Now. Another, Lynsey Addario, spoke with NPR’s Morning Edition Friday.
